Default Tis the season for untimely blooms to pop!

Go figure. My tallest and biggest P-stem has a half leaf, flag leaf and bloom. I didn't notice it earlier since this one almost blew over when TS Lee came by. All the foliage leaned to one side and was hiding it. It is supposed to be a Raji Puri but I have my doubts. I was about 15- 20 foot tall before the big lean. I still have almost three months before frost/freeze will be expected. Maybe I'll get lucky. I'll try to post some pictures. I'll definately have to prop this one up!

Yep, I feel your pain, that's what happened to my Goldfinger last year. I doudt that anything bloomed at my place other than my Raja this year.

How big did the raji get. We have two and think we will double that if they stay smaller and fruit good. From what I have gathered, the smaller plants fruit sooner and althought the harvest is smaller it is easier to protect them from the elements.

If it's 15' to 20' of P-stem, it's not a Raja Puri. Here's a pic of one that just fruited in my yard, about 6' of P-stem.

Darkman, could it have been Pisang Raja and not Raja Puri? The 15-20' height would be right for Pisang Raja.

It definately has at minimum ten feet of P-stem so I'm going to say that it is not a Raji Puri.

When I got it he told it may not be what he thought it was. The bloom itself looks like it is 18 - 24" long. It has not opened yet. As soon as it opens I'll post pictures and we figure it out.

I doubt that it is a Pisang Raja unless the confusion came several trades ago.
