Truth behind Carolina King?
Is there such thing? Or is it just a Ca Gold? Wiki says it will survive 7-10. Since I live in NC it would be neat to have one

Re: Truth behind Carolina King?
I think it just might be another name for some variety coined by TyTy.

Re: Truth behind Carolina King?
I seem to remember it being connected with TyTy, as well. In which case it could be anything. I would bet on it being Orinoco.

Re: Truth behind Carolina King?
If it has anything to do with TyTy I'd be very skeptical. It is probably just an Orinoco that survived in North Carolina (as any Orinoco might) and they gave it a new name as a marketing ploy. I think they did the same thing with 'Texas Star' or something like that. I'll bet you can't find it anywhere else but TyTy if it is a made up cultivar.

Re: Truth behind Carolina King?
Yeah you guys are right haha. I would figure Orinoco as well like sunfish posted that post card. Orinoco is hardy even down to zone 7. Plus I see it everywhere in yards in Wilmington.
