Default TY TY Nursery...Banana's good or bad!

Ok I have read a ton of negative things about ty ty nursery (just do a google search) and their website is a bit bizzare but has anyone ordered banan's from them? They seem to be the only one who has "large" plants for sale. A bit pricey but I would love to order a larger banana since I am in a colder climate and the growing season here is short. Anyone have any comments or suggestions for other places? Thanks much

I can tell you their trees arrive in the best of shape. I haven't had to send anything back either or even have a complaint. I know alot of the complaints were due to their sexist ads. You may have to call them to get your tracking number or when shipment is taking place, but I never had a problem getting info on that. I have gotten banana's, olives, and almonds from them.
I've had the wrong kinda plant sent to me by simular sights. I'd stay away from Willis Orchard. They sent me a bunch of SDC's, a Lil Prince, and DC's vs. what I actually ordered. I hope that helps :^)

I have ordered from ty a few times, I have thought that the bananas I got from them were large for the price. I have never received what I ordered but It has not bothered me too much. Just last year I ordered a Raja Puri it came to me as a large corm root cut even with the ground from the season before,I think it was the second size they sell maybe they call it a mother bulb. It turned out to be a Dwarf red, very nice plant, I got six foot out of it and about 5 pups, I would expect this as it always happens with these guys.
Good luck, some of the best plants you can get will come from members here, also I have had good luck with e-bay.

I think the usual complaint has been that you get something, but doesn't turn out to be what you ordered.

Aren't Ty Ty and Willis Orchard the same company? Maybe not....

Looks like TY TY may be doing a lot of drop shipping of plants since a lot of complaints there rebutal is the trees and plants are grown all over the country so I am assuming they are working like a subcontractor or reseller on a lot of plants...

as well as many other companies they have been trying to do business as over the years...

Such as

Blackberry Plant Nursery
African Amaryllis Bulb Nursery
Apple Tree Nursery
Bunch and Seedless Grape Vine Nursery
Pecan Tree Nursery
Tree Nursery
Aaron's Bulb Farm(part & parcel of TyTy) also does business as:
Aaron's Amaryllis & Canna Bulb Farm Nursery
Arron's Flower, Tree, and Shrub Nursery
Arron's Nursery with other listings
Aaron's Bamboo Nursery
Aaron's Daffodil Nursery
Aaron's Leucojum, Tuberose, and Eucomis Nursery
Aaron's Allium Nursery
Aaron's Clivia Nursery
Aaron's Agapanthus Nursery
Aaron's Elephant Ear Nursery
Aaron's Ariod Nursery
Aaron's Iris Nursery
Aaron's Ginger Lily Nursery
Aaron's Hymenocallis Nursery
Aaron's Crinum Lily Nursery
Aaron's Banana Tree Nursery
Aaron's Perennial Nursery
Arron's Fruit Nursery
Apple Tree Nursery
Blackberry Nursery
Blueberry Nursery
Fig Tree Nursery
Grape Vine Nursery
Pecan Tree Nursery
Peach Tree Nursery
Persimmon Tree Nursery

Well, to be honest, I've never ordered anything from their site, but truth be told, their videos are something horrible. I can feel a strange chill coming up my spine when I watch it.

I have always received nice plants from here. A couple of times they were mislabeled though. Always nice plants though.

Well, I can't speak personally about the quality or value of their products as I've never ordered from them. I'm definitely not a fan of their marketing strategies, though.

As far as ordering larger plants/longer growing season, etc: a banana isn't going to bloom/fruit in one growing season anyway, so you may as well save some money and buy a smaller plant. Maybe that's just my view as a fellow cold-weather grower, though. I dunno, if you want a larger plant, try filling out a classified ad to see if anyone on the site has what you're looking for for a good price. I guarantee that members here are more reliable than TyTy for getting what you ordered.

There is a long thread, either here, or at Garden Web Fig Forum about Willis. They are former employees of TyTy, who supposedly didn't like TYTy shady business practices, but some of the advertising is just as crazy. Hard to take either one seriously.

I can say only from previous experience.. Since coming here I think there are enough sources here to get a reliable product from a member. I know I haven't ordered banana's from Willis/Tyty since I joined nor shall I. Well it won't be Bananas, I may get another olive tree.. but not Nanners.. I'd rather know what I'm getting versus having something big.. I can do that myself over time with minimal losses. :^)

I haven't been able to reach them by phone to check order status at all. No one answers the phone. This is the first online experience where I've yet to get a email tracking number.

Ordered a windmill palm from them so curious as to what I will get...if anything comes at all.

Well I tried once to call today and got through. VERY NICELY I asked status of order.

Guy on a speaker phone simply asked what my zip code was and I told him, and he quickly said are you "Scott?" and I said yes, and he said tree went out today on UPS..so we'll see.

Now my hope that I get what I ordered (Wind Mill Palm).....stay tuned!

Ok, got my Windmill Palm today from Ty Ty, and I have to say that I got exactly what I ordered, packaged carefully in a shipping box in great shape.

Banana Gallery - 01212

Pic of windmill palm after planting. Going to keep it in a pot for a couple of years, so I can bring it inside the garage during the toughest winter months so get it used to the colder weather before putting it in the ground.

Thanks for the update. That about the average condition of the plants when I get them from TTN. Pretty much consistent with the photos that I posted of the latest banana corms that I received from them.

I just wish they had more immediate information about shipping status after ordering like most places do.

I like to have an idea when something is going to arrive after ordering.
