Re: Under attack -- AGAIN!!!
Have never had pest problems with naners planted in the ground, or in pots outside of the pool enclosure. Except for the Anna Banana moles, that is. Just removed extra pups from the dwf orinoco mat and found lots of big ants all over the p-stems. These guys I leave alone in case they are chewing up bad bugs.
Have found all kinds of lizzards, tree frogs and the occasional black racer on or around the bananas outside. I leave them be as they are most welcome. The pool area has two planting beds, and it's one bug problem after another. Just saw spider mites on the little SDC in the corner bed. Where's the Organocide?! It stinks, but it works well. |

Re: Under attack -- AGAIN!!!
It's now a week later and the Maurelii is pushing up the core shoot again. It's partially blackened and has lumps of bug poop on it but the plant is growing again. Think the only reason I saved it is I got to it soon enough.
Oh yeah, pulled a bell pepper from the garden that looked funny. Had a 3 inch long green caterpillar sticking halfway out of a big hole. It was a half inch in diameter. One squirt of bug juice right in the puss and over the fence it went - still in the pepper. If this thing became a moth it would be the size of a robin. Where are my black racers -they're laying down on the job! Dan |
