variegated Dwarf Brazilian
I found a variegated Dwarf Brazilian in one of the tissue culture vessels where I work, so I took it out and grew it for a little bit to see if it would keep its variegation but after a few leaves it turned all green. I gave it away to a friend and he just sent me this photo, the first pup it produced is now producing variegated leaves. I have another one which appears to be stable as well, these are 2 variegated plants of the 4 or so I have seen produced from the tens of thousands of plants I have seen in the lab.
Here is the other one I found that is not too strongly variegated but appears stable.

Re: variegated Dwarf Brazilian
Ah... so that's the reason why you always look so busy in the lab making your sups think you are such a hard working guy...
Btw, good catch, keep it up! |

Re: variegated Dwarf Brazilian
Nice plants! I think I remember you posting some time ago about a variegated one you found in the lab.

Re: variegated Dwarf Brazilian
I am not much into variegation, but I must say the light variegation combined with the small red flecks of the younger leaves looks pretty neat.

Re: variegated Dwarf Brazilian
Unlike Dar, I go gah gah for variegated bananas. Pete can attest to that. I'd love to get a pup of each of those!
Do you think it is a mutation of the tissue culture process itself that caused the variegation? Thanks for sharing, Harvey |
