![]() These do really exist and are very nice plants. Here is a picture you can find on the internet if you look hard enough. These have been refered to as Musa basjoo 'Fuji-Yama variegata', and also just as Musa basjoo 'variegata'. They are rare TC sports from Jean-Luc Penninckx in Holand but are in essence just variegated "plain" basjoo.

![]() Hi mitchel, did you get the pics, i am sorry i dont have any variegated basjoo that i can let go at the moment, i have only one main plant , with four pups, two have variegation, one ordinary, and one lime green, i need to build up a small stock before i can let any go, i wish it was possible to micropropagate this plant, but upto now variegated bananas dont reproduce variegation through micropropagation, the people who have tried this have lost a lot of money. Ae ae has been around for a long time now and it is still a rare plant, variegated basjoos have only been around as far as i know for 6 years, and very few people have one. Unless micropropagation works one day, this will be a rare plant for a long time to come, if anyone knows of a succesfull micropropagation of a variagated banana please let me know, then any one can have one, all the very best, Tony

![]() I noticed today that my Variegated basjoo has just put up a new leaf that is compleatly green. Does this mean that it is reverting back to a normal one ?
The two small pups have barely grown in the 5 months since they appeared and they are too small to see if they are going to be green or variegated. Any info welcome.

![]() Hi Mark, it is to early yet to tell if it is reverting, on average on each leaf your plant will display 50% variagation along with 50% green, but, the balance is variable so it is possible to produce a leaf all green, the next leaf will let you know if it is going to revert or not....Tony

![]() Hi Randy, the variegated basjoo is a beautiful plant but it needs more care and attention than the normal basjoo, because of the lake of green they dont grow as fast, they burn easy and if you loose the stem in winter then you have lost your plant there's not much chance of another variegated comming up from the base. I had a reply on the garden web once from a member in florider he had 7 variegated basjoo's and they where stunning plants is he a member on here

![]() Tony,
Just out of curiosity, I'm new to the Variegated banana scene, and I was wondering... It seems like there are quite a few different types of Variegated Bananas and all vare considered rare. So, how does everyone find them:2687: ?! I am planning on going to florida next spring in hopes of returning with some type of Var. Banana but I have no idea where to look. How did you come across yours? - Matt |

![]() Hi Matt, to be honest you are in a better position in the US than i am in the UK, variagated bananas in the UK are very rare and i came by mine purely by chance, there are a number of sellers both in the US and Thailand, a good place to start would be EBAY, but seeing as you are going to Florida, check out Rare tropical plants.com in Florida, i know he has several variagated basjoo ae ae, and various other variagated nanas. all the best Tony.

![]() A quick up date on the new leaf. It finally opened and after a week or so you could see the colour changing slightly. So panic over ( for now )
