After a yr on the list, my 'VC' arrived today. A field separation pup instead of a tc, it's nice and healthy. As soon as I drop the husband off at work, I'll be back potting it up!

Unfortunately, two weeks ago my Cockteil in 4 minutes pulled my camera out of it's pouch and removed all the toggles, switches and buttons. It'll be a while before I can afford a new one...

Have no idea. Last Spring I ordered a couple of Bananas(Dwarf Namwa, SH3240 and FHIA23?)and asked to be put on the list. I sent in an order last week for a Rajah Puri but added the extra amt in case the 'VC' was available. I'd already heard about the loss of thier tissue culture so didn't have much hope. There were a couple of folks ahead of me but they couldn't contact them for a number of reasons so;>....
I guess there's some upside to being DIsabled and generally around the house most days;>

According to Wikipedia, in 2008, the first day of Spring was March 21 on the East Coast, and March 20 on the West Coast. If say, you ordered your VC a month or so later, that would put your order date in late April. There was another member that said he ordered his VCs on April 22, 2008, and he was #8. He got his in August 2008.

Though I ordered in mid-February, I was told that I was #13, and was told that I could get mine in September, but was tricked into having them "hold and tag the 3 plants with my name on them" until this Spring. When I finally got my plants this year, I found out that they in fact released those 3 in September to others who had ordered.

I think that if you order a lot from them, they will move you up the line. Unless, of course, if all you ordered were VCs! So, those members who are on the waiting list, order some more plants and watch your name get moved up the line.

I don't believe they go changing anyone's order on the list unless they can't get in touch with them or if the customer asks for their order to be postponed or they don't send in their check.

Pat did not say the order got placed on the first day of spring. I ordered mine on July 31st and was number 37.

I mentioned the spelling error in an e-mail to Katie today and she hadn't noticed the error before and will correct it on their web site and catalog ("Veinte" is the correct spelling).

Make sure you can overwinter VC in a warm place because the unheated garage just won't work. I learned the hard way! Very disappointed in hardiness with VC.

I did not say that either. The reference to the first day of Spring was just a gage, and even said that if she were to order a month later, that would put her order towards the end of April. Since she did not get her VC until now, I implied that she might have placed it after #8, who placed his on April 22, 2008 and got his order in August. If you remember, I got an acknowledgment from GB that my order was placed in February(this is undeniable because the check was dated and was cashed), but was given the number 13 on the waiting list.

Chong, why even speculate about all of this? Pat may have ordered on the last day of spring. Katie told me something last year about getting mixed up with someone who she wasn't sure if they wanted the banana or not and I thought it was you at the time because of the change in their pricing. You've already discussed your delayed order in other threads and don't think it needs to be brought into this thread as well. I'm just glad they are getting more of them shipped! I ordered one plant, the Veinte Cohol, for what it's worth. I didn't order until well after last spring so I am sure Pat's number is well ahead of mine.

Wow, Scot, that's weird. I've called them about twice and e-mailed a few times since last July to confirm my continued interest and ask for updates but haven't ever asked for an estimated shipping date. I was hoping for it sooner but have plenty to keep me busy so I didn't think it was worth getting worked up about it. I mailed off my check today and was told it would ship ASAP once my check arrived.

Scot, maybe you should call or write them to make sure they didn't take you off the list for some reason. Good luck!

For those that care about numbers, Katie sent me a reply to am e-mail of mine in late March indicating they had just shipped out #23 and she also said that some of the folks contacted did not respond so I would be moving up the list. That was the last I heard from them until today.

It's true that I've ordered from them before, so at least they know I can come up with the cash;>. AS someone whose run a mailorder business, one of my biggest "Pains" were folks that demanded much but never gave, even time. 'Course, this was beforethe Internet but some of the nastiest customers I'd have to deal with were those that expected with no money up front me to basically spend WEEKS of my time trying to get a hold of them and then complain loudly when I couldn't. Like I was Sandra Dee having nothing better than to sit by the phone and wait for his "highness" to call.....
'COurse, many folks have never gotten over being the center of attention their mummy's gave them. AS far as I've concerned Unconditional means just what it means....

I'm working from memory as I can find the archived copies of their prices that I once sent to Chong, but I believe around February 2008 their catalog showed a price of $20 but they were out of stock at that time. When they started taking waiting list orders the following month or so they increased the price to $25, which is the price I was told to pay yesterday (plus shipping of $10.95 to the west coast). I think they could easily get more for this hard-to-get variety so I'm happy with the price.
