Default is this weird or what?

i bought a high color mini musa saturday.( im sure that by now everyone knows) mom plant and 4 pups in the same pot. ok, it was banana feeding time at the zoo this morning. i just noticed that the largest pup in the pot with the others, has a pup ( it is attached to the largest pup in the pot, not the mom plant). its a total of 2 inches tall.( the green leaves out the top of pup included) is this normal? or do i have some kind of mutaited banana, that will chase me down the hallway? or is it that it is so potbound that the plant has no room for roots and the only way it can continue to grow is to throw pups? the new pup just totally blew my mind.( thats not hard to do!) so i am back to the clueless in sparta thing ....again. im excited about the new pup, im just concerned that 5 pups is going to kill the mother plant.

not the best pic,but you see what i mean?

Cool Re: is this weird or what?

Where is Inkcube, MH, Gabe and the others when you need them? Whewww I guess you got the newbies Mskitty. I have had a lil gardening under my belt concerning other plants. I say if it aint broke dont fix it. Is it growing OK? Does it look like it needs help? Did it start growing becuz of nothing special your doing? Was it growing ok in that pot or medium before you adopted it? RELAX! Take a deep breath>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Repot it or leave it alone! Either way you will learn just as iam a newby to members who have been doing this for 20yrs, or whether in the tropics or cold cold cold Connecticut! We all have to find our OWN best methods, with the H-E-L-P of other dedicated banana growers. Just my 2cents. MG

Thats just fine, normal growth, you will find your plants will produce more pups than you know what to do with in time. You don't need to take it off unless you want more plants, but as mentioned in the other post, you should do any separating in the spring when growth is better so as not to shock the plant too much.
