![]() Thank you HarveyC. That is why I sent in a report post so it would be sure to get in front of a moderator who can contact him...

![]() I just happened to notice 3 ripe (1 dead ripe) bananas on my bunch. Should I cut the entire stem? Let them ripen on their time? There are little flying things (not fruit flies) buzzing around. I thought these would be ready around T-day, um, nope. I, who does not like bananas and definitely not ripe ones, tasted the most developed. Tart flavor and pleasing to me.

![]() Put it where? In my BR? I don't have air on; windows are open. I finally got rid of Mickey and his 2 friends; I have no bugs and no inside pets. (I do have a skink that lives under my fridge.) BR okay? Can I give hands away or do I need to keep the bunch whole?

![]() You can put it on a screened porch if you have one. I put mine on the table or counter, but remember banana "blood" stains most anything. I eat them as they ripen on the bunch, but if you want to give some away, cut the hands free of the main stem and give them away. A lot of people hang them in a porch or garage.

![]() I've promised a hand to a friend; the guy who didn't object to me ferreting out 2 pups on our 2nd meeting deserves one. I may not have to worry about having them around too long. 11 lbs only. (I know I cut the flower too soon but bunch was in front of my only rear hose bib and this was a dry summer so I had to water since my pump issue hasn't yet been resolved thus things were curtailed.)
I'm now glad I didn't remove all of the plant hangers in my ceilings. Put a piece of tarp on a shelf, made sure shelf is under bunch in case hook lets go, found a piece of wire I dug up in my yard and fashioned a sling. (I just knew I'd need that someday!) 2 of the 3 that kinda fell off in my hand earlier today. Obviously this bunch is ready to go--those were green when I picked the others. Glad this is not a heavy bunch; that plant hook is pretty old and flimsy. But I'm thinking that since mistletoe isn't native to Fl, banana bunches would make a tasty changeup.

![]() You don't need to hang the bunch. You can just cut off the hands or fingers and they are less bulky to store. But if you like a banana bunch as mistletoe in your room, that's fine, too!

![]() No, I don't need mistletoe or vegetative indoor decoration but, since this is my 1st bunch and I've seen bunches hung, I thought it was necessary. Joke's on me I guess.

![]() Congrats Kat!! I always just cut the hands off mine and store them in a cardboard box. Check daily for ripe fingers. Hanging the bunch sometimes there will be a smushed one inside the bunch you can't see or get to. It will make fruit flies and gnats like crazy. To me it's much easier to just remove the hands anyway.

![]() First FHIA-17. 8 hands, 103 fingers. Took one off a few weeks ago and it was quite good. Not as good as a true Gros Michel, but preferable to nearly every cavendish I've had. 13 months to flower and 4 months to harvest. I'm hoping the last of these are still edible when my FHIA-23 is ready so I can directly compare them.

![]() I went ahead and harvested the 2016 Not Ice Cream - Namwah - Banana Crop #2. It has only been a little over 3 months since the flower came out for this bunch. I might be a little early, but wanted to see how they taste if harvested early and if the green bananas are good for cooking. .

![]() I would LOVE to positively identify it one day. I am curious about it being Orinoco or not since the fruit does not fill out like the Orinoco photos I have seen, the fruit definitely good for fresh eating at early yellow stage too.
Here's photo of my harvest last year, which did look like some of the Orinoco photos I have seen. Mine is just so small... ![]()
