Re: What did you harvest today (bananas)
I didn't bother, and yes they're different. Larger fruit, slightly different shape more like other bluggoe types. They have a similar taste when ripe. Perhaps less mushy and less flavorful than Ice Cream. They were nothing special cooked when slightly yellow. True plantains or any of the Pacific "plantains" are more flavorful cooked at the same stage. Easier plant to deal with vs. Ice Cream, as they don't all fall over long before even flowering.

Re: What did you harvest today (bananas)
These look a lot like Ice Cream.

Re: What did you harvest today (bananas)
Are you thinking they may be ice cream instead of Lady Finger? I'm just going by the variety the Tropical Nursery told me.
What makes you say that? Coloring? Suze? |

Re: What did you harvest today (bananas)
Size, shape, and color says Ice Cream. And I mean the real thing, not one of the Namwah variants that is routinely sold as Ice Cream. Lady Finger isn't a real type of banana and is an inaccurate name used for many cultivars, unfortunately.

Re: What did you harvest today (bananas)
Gran Nain X Sumatrana. 5 months flower to harvest. These are surprisingly good. They don't really fill out but there is some seedless fruit in there. Some classic banana taste with some other tangy, tropical fruit taste to them. If they were more substantial they'd actually be a pretty good banana.

My GN x S almost died. Pure neglect. Repotted in good stuff with Myco powder and it's coming back.

Re: What did you harvest today (bananas)
Rob: have you done a taste report on sweetheart, and does it consistently taste the same, or have you had some bunches that taste better than others?
