I've currently got 19 bunches coming. This is the most I've ever had at once. With none of them taking longer than 24 weeks, I have nearly a bunch per week coming in the next 6 months.

Ones that have fruited before:
2 Williams
1 Ice Cream
8 Dwarf Brazilian
1 Gros Michel

Ones fruiting for the first time:
1 Mysore
2 Namwah
1 Hua Moa

Including these which I've never even tasted:
1 Praying Hands
2 1000 Fingers

Having recently tasted Mysore again I can't wait to get those from my yard. I see now why everyone raves about them.

Not posting pics in this post, but many are in my photobucket album.

Cross --- G Nain x Sumatrana --- will be cut down soon. Useless fruit except for pix. Pups go for auction.

Gfinger and the SH3640. Both in the top 5 that I've tasted. Will never be replaced.

Rob ---- how do you dispose of all those bananas? One bunch a week - wow! I'm still trying to find a local charity food bank that takes fresh produce.

Last 2 Datil bunches were stunted making me think I had a sick mat. This year the fingers are much bigger and filled in. Should show what the fruit really taste like. Had been ready to toss the whole mat when I saw a new flag leaf. There was definitely something wrong. Looks now like it got over it.

I have a farmers market in my neighborhood so usually I sell at the market when I have an excess of fruit. But I also eat several a day out of hand, cook with them too if they're cooking bananas, freeze the excess which I use for breakfast smoothies, and give them away if I don't do the market.

I've always shied around the thought of growing Goldfinger as many say it doesn't taste that great. Haven't a clue what Datil is though, but, lovely photos and congrats on the bunches!

Hey -- like with my Datil -- stunted fruit produced by a sickly mat won't taste representative of the cultivar growing under ideal conditions.

The Gfinger is one of the crowning glories of the FHIA program and is feeding millions in the 3rd world where banana diseases have wiped out their long standing staples. Also --- I bet those who put it down did not fertilize monthly and do regular mat maintenance. Bananas are heavy feeders. I'm lucky to live in a subtropical agricultural area where Ag suppliers also sell to the public.

Imagine ------ quality fresh 6-3-16 with musa specific minors at 50 lbs for 18 bucks and change.

This is a shame Dan. All this talk about needing to feed the expanding population and we can't even give away food, compounded by our waste of good food. The problem is politics and greed, not food production.
