Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)
Hey Trebor,
Congrats! That sucker is low, looks like the naners are going to be on the ground. Wish you luck with that, is that normal for the d. Namwah or was there an issue with its growth? Big Tony

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)
Interesting. Is it definitely a dwarf namwah? I know my tall namwahs all have very distinctive purple pedicels for several weeks once the hands are visible.

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)
You can kind of tell it's dwarf from the picture. It only looks about 6' tall.

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)
Gran Nain 738 days later from when I first planted the pup I bought according to my garden notes. Think it would have probably fruited faster but it lives in partial shade.

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)
Thank you very much Big Tony,Ante and Keith! Its great that i can share my excitement with you and all know how it feels!
Thank you for your wishes! I will keep you updated on the progress! I will get to see it again on early July and will certainly get a photo! Amanda, Your banana and bloom look great, well done!!!! This one and your Namwah actually look too great for your zone! How do you overwinter your bananas in the ground and they grow so well for you afterwards?

Though for the current bunch on the Namwah, I'll admit I reverted to a practice I used in my old apple orchard years ago when nights fell below freezing a couple times this past winter....sit up all night stoking a fire underneath to keep the air temps above freezing.
