Better photos of Double Mahoi and SH 3640. I hope these make it through our "winter" down here. We have been dipping just below 40 degrees for an hour or two lately. So far so good.

Ed, is that a normal height for this one in your yard? If so, that's awesome. I'd like a Manzano that typically fruits at less than 10'. Mine are typically 12-13' so far.

Yes, 8' p-stem is average I've had them fruit at 7'and sometimes 9', maybe it's my microclimate and it would grow taller with different soil conditions.

There's a lot of history with this plant, my father and I bought it in Miami. That day we went to different nurseries looking for small avocado trees unfortunately we didn't find any. In one of the nurseries they were selling banana plants, they had only one variety Manzano the nursery attendant said that he grows this plant and he described the fruit as a sweet banana mixed with apple, that was 36 years ago I was 14 years old.

Goldfinger! Bought it as a tissue culture back in August. Probably no more than a foot tall back then. I'll have to check the bloom height, but I think its 6.5 feet. Why is everything so short in my yard? I have magic dwarfing apparently on everything.

My Goldfinger was also only about 6.5 feet before flowering.

This was supposed to be a Goldfinger (from Aloha Tropicals), but it's yet another Namwah, my 5th Namwah that was sold as something else. 2 years to flower, but was planted in a densely planted shady spot.

Here's my (should be the real thing) Goldfinger. Bought 8 months ago as a small TC, been in the ground about 6 months. About 4' tall and seems to have lost much of the pink.

For several years I tried to get locals to buy D. Namwah. Many of them however raved about the Goldfinger they bought at a nursery. It would be funny and ironic if all those "Goldfinger" were Namwah!

Those big very broad leaves say Gfinger to me. Enjoy --- the fruit taste and texture is fantastic!

At this point I'm ready to answer every ID thread with, "It's probably a Namwah."

It could be excellent timing for the flower. Even if we get El Nino rains in March, the fruit should plump up nicely with the warm weather before and after.

Whatever the case, it would be great if we got some rain!
