Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)
This creamwah mat of mine is an unstoppable juggernaut! Since my first harvest last December, I've harvested two other bunches this year and now I have three filling and a forth on the way. None of my other varieties perform like this one. Not sure why (I think it's because it's my wife's favorite) I've let this mat grow with less management than the others. I imagine the bunches could be bigger but we can only eat so many at once anyway, so this is working for us. |

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)
Is there any pink along the edge of the leaf stems -- or are the leaf stems completely void of pink?

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)
Nice - I have an aka blue Java -not a namwah- only about 12 ft high and no flag but has started leaning and it is really a dramatic lean - had to prop it. I noticed your is way over . Is that common with Ice Cream?

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)
Yes, leaning is very common in my experience with Ice Cream. It's one of the reasons I have ripped out most of them. I can have it propped in 3 directions and it magically finds a way to fall the opposite way. Maybe 1/3 of bunches make it to full maturity.

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)
The Blue Java/Ice Cream they have at Quail Gardens in Encinitas are terrible leaners, too. The one in my yard is still too small to lean -- yet!
