Default Whats Wrong With Them?????

OK can anyone help/answer this question?I got these bananas 14 days ago and they seem to look very different. The are putting out new stems but they just don't look right to me. Can anyone tellme whats wrong with them. I watered them once since I got them about 6 days ago. I keep them inside it gets below 30 outside at night and stays around 50 or so during day. The temp in my house is around 70 to 75, I keep them where they will get sun. Thanks for your help. Here are pics the day I got them and 14 day's later

Your temp sounds good. Put them in front of a south facing window - they need light! When I was in NC I used indoor plant lighting on a timer to give them what they and the orchids needed, and to keep the room warm overnight. I used to sleep at 68 degrees in those days. Now I live in So Fla and feel cold at 75. Have to put on sweats now and then - wife drives me nuts with her penchant for cold!!! Couldn't sleep with the Ae Ae on the nightstand anymore and had to find a warmer bolt hole for it.

Also, check for mites - use a eye loupe if you have to - 5x is good. My stressed naners always seemed to hatch a new crop of bugs right along with the drooping of the leaves in the wintertime.

-Yes, I thought so, especially after trading a 100 year old cycad for two Ae Ae's Variegata from a man in Chicago.

My indoor bananas with leafs have a similar wavyness to them. Not really sure why they are doing this. I was thinking about putting a humidifier in the room to see if that helps any.

The ones with this are growing fine though so I'm not to concerned about it.

Some of mine have had similar browning and drooping at the beginning of winter... and after adding a humidifier and rearranging to maximize light exposure they have perked up quite a bit... as dan (bananimal) stated it could also be a pest problem. Spider mites can be pesky but they really hate being wet so a humidifier or regular misting will really help to keep their populations down.

Best wishes,

-James-

I think the main difference between the plants is their growth habit. They each have different characteristics and growing habits. Some tall, some short, some dark, light green, etc.

Tribeone ,
That pic of the namwa looks dry . I am using a mix that looks like the mix you have and it is full of wood fines . Water runs right through it and very little is absorbed . As a result,I have let some of my plants get too dry and they looked just like your Namwa . If you lift the pot and it feels light as a feather then you may have the same problem .
With a mix like that it has worked best for me to run a sink of room temperature water and set the pot in it for a minute or two . If it's really dry it will float for a while and will need your attention to keep it upright. Then you can drain the sink and leave the plant in there untill the pot has completely drained .

My outdoor plants also get the big, brown, crunchy spots when they stay dry for too long . It shows up in the young plants first . I never neglect them long enough for it to show up in the larger plants. And the new growth of the plants looks normal as long as they're getting watered properly .

I agree with Lagniappe, looks like they dried out, and could use some misting to help bring them around again.

Merry Xmas!

I wouldn't bring them in and out. I tried that with mine last year and the leaves got burnt by the sun. If you do bring the in and out put them in a shady spot.
