Wood chips=Wood lice. Although woodlice, like earthworms, are generally considered beneficial in gardens for their role in producing compost and overturning the soil, they have also been known to feed on cultivated plants, such as ripening strawberries and tender seedlings

I use Agrowinn rock dust. If you really want huge healthy plants the Back To Eden method has proven results but it takes many years. There are lots of web pages and videos on it but I thought this was pretty cool seeing how I follow John's videos anyway.
