Re: PineApples
Very interesting, do you have any extra pineapple pups for sale? Seems they would make a great addition to bananas.

Re: PineApples
SG,
Gorgeous pineapple plants, very healthy-looking! Do you know what variety they are? And how do you feed them? Mike, I thought the same thing and started acquiring some. First I planted a couple from the grocery store (Smooth Cayenne, I think) and they are doing well, then I started looking on the web. I got 3 of the Kona Sugarloaf variety from Wellspring Gardens via eBay for less than $4 each. They look great, but have a good bit of growing before they look like SG's! I understand the sugarloaf is one of the biggest and sweetest, but less acid than the commercial type. Kona Sugarloaf on eBay There is another seller that has them also, but they may be smaller plants. Jeez they take up very little space, relatively. And my understanding is they are low-maintenance, so I think I can dedicate a few square feet in the greenhouse. |

Re: PineApples
Wow, those are easily twice the size of your orignal TC plants!!
How long does it take a TC pineapple to get to the size you are selling? Mike |

Re: PineApples
I have three typical pineapple, like the Dole gold or what-have-you.
Also have a clump of small ornamental pineapples that I really enjoy. And, I also recently got a very small dwarf ornamental of some sort that is a real crowd-pleaser. I really enjoy growing pineapples, especially the out of the ordinary kinds.

Re: PineApples
LOL sounds like me. Something isn't performing up to snuff so it get's the axe.
Above pineapples look like a sweet deal compared to small TC's on ebay etc. Great start for someone looking to grow their own. Mike |
