Wanted: Bordelon, Rose or Jamaican Red
I'm thinking about trying some of these red colored types. Any one have any good size pups? My zebrina and mysore are the only non-green varieties I have. I have some pups I can dig up for trade.

Re: Wanted: Bordelon, Rose or Jamaican Red
I could dig up a Rose for you if you really want one, but it's not so colorful compared to a Bordelon (or Zebrina) or a Jamaican Red.
I have all three of these kinds (Zebrina, not the Bordelon) - and the Rose so far is keeping green. My Rose: The above photo should be re-taken. I have since pulled the grass back away from the base, exposing six pseudostems, all from just one plant only a year ago. (It's been pupping very frequently) But it's not a very red plant, if your looking for color while you wait for a flower. But I'd be happy to send you one to get you started with it. Gabe15's Rose: According to banana-tree, "This 12' Indonesian cultivar exhibits a bright pink-red trunk. It produces a high quality fruit. Bright pink/red color is also seen in the leaf petiole and the mid-rib." But mine is not so pink-red in the trunk! This is a Dwarf Red, on the other hand. Something you might want to consider.

Re: Wanted: Bordelon, Rose or Jamaican Red
Thanks MediaHound for the Rose offer and thanks for posting great pictures. For some reason, I thought the Rose had darker red colored under-leafs, hence I guess it’s why they call it Rose, more of a pinkish color. Because of my expanded collection, limited space and based on your recommendations, I’m going to peruse a Dwarf Red. Your picture shows a beautiful pseudostem.
Have you heard of the RED IHOLENE? Or SIKKIMENSIS (Red Tiger)? I’ve attached a picture of my HUGE Raja mat. I got two blooms on the same mat this summer. If you look closely, you can see a little monkey trying to steal the bananas. http://www.bananas.org/gallery/showp...=500&ppuser=62 |
