Tissue Culturing & Other Propagation Techniques of Banana Plants This forum is for discussing propagation techniques of banana plants. Tissue culturing is the popular process of creating clones from a source plant. There are other techniques to propagate banana plants however, such as nicking corms or dividing corms. Please don't go bananas poor woman!!! If the center is hard there is a good chance it will come back. I'd take a wait and see attitude at this point.

Re: ensete maurelli, damage the stem or not to produce pups?
Yeah, if it already has lumps, it very possibly could come up as a bunch of pups anyway. I'd say just leave it...try to get it growing in any way you can. If it comes up as a bunch of pups, you got what you wanted. If not, you might end up with a nice healthy plant (which you could destroy for pups in the future). Either way, you're not out anything. So yeah...I'd say just try to get it growing again and see what it'll do for ya.

Jazz, Pete is a modest guy but he damaged his and I think he's got over 100 new plants which he'll have for sale soon (though being in the USA that doesn't help you much). Still, it gives you a good idea about what you can get if you're "greedy"! Here are some from a picture taken the other day. Banana Gallery - Corm # 1
