dear Brad and Bikolo.
In Indonesia, photo the bananas in the bottle that i send, called pisang raja / king banana. I just got 1 plant variegated banana which is mutation of normal banana (green) and we propagated by tissue culture. and something unique, variegated banana after TC will be 2 variant: variegated also and albino. albino have more than 90% of stem and leaf area have white color.

Pinwheel Re: Tissue Culture of Variegated bananas

based on my experience in TC, if mutation appear in meristematic sell its could be permanent. variegated color will be inherited to thex generation. and in case of my varigated banana, all the result of TC is variegated and albino. no one return be green.

Fascinating! What ratio do you usually have of variegated plants: albino plants?

Dear moderator
In first experiment using normal medium for Musa Sp (MS medium + 5 mg BAP/l) i got rasio variegated: albino = 1:2. albino plant more than variegated but if using less BAP than 5 mg/BAP, the persentace (%) of variegated plant improved, even its shoot multification need more time.
