Have you visited my lotus album: http://togofcoralgables.com/lotus.aspx
Or my waterlilies: http://togofcoralgables.com/waterliliesandlotus.aspx
The pictures might take your mind off the Ae Ae.
I have grown waterlilies for about 40 years and Lotus for 6. And there some Ae Ae pictures but you probably spotted those.

I'll follow those links and get back to you. My first love is Waterlilies and now my whole collection is at a friends place in the UK, sad but true. I'm going to buy a few tropicals this year , I saw some online for about ten bucks , so I guess I'll start with those and work my way up again. Lotus , well I bought two from Lily Pons , but they are not showing signs of life yet , they will replace them if they do not grow , we will see.

Well I followed the links and found a wonderful site , thank you for replying and pointing out a site I had never come across in all my researching the web over the years. AeAe pics are just great, Water lilies are in top form and the Lotus pics are inspiring. I hope one day to have the space and climate to repeat your stunning results. I'll post the links at UKOasis too as the guys will love to have a look , most are Northern European gardeners and we do the best we can with cool Summers , often with good results.

p.s. That Bali Red looks very very nice, I had one called Lavender Lady I'm hoping it does well this year. Is the lack of a dormancy period in Florida a problem so far with your Lotus?
Also do you propagate Tropical Water Lilies ? I grew my first Tropical Water Lilies from seed about five years ago, in Europe at the time it was very very difficult to source Tropical Water Lilies so seed growing was the answer. I grew N. capensis from seed to flower in eight months and was well pleased.I also grew a Lotus from seed but never got htem to flower. I learned how to propagate Tropical Water Lilies and enjoyed it.
If you have any spare plants let me know please.
Thanks again for the links.
