Re: True Raja Puri
I'm wondering if there are some not so true raja puri's floating around. I'm just wondering because some in the UK claim that it is more cold hardy than ornico(spelled wrong). Maybe they have a different type?

Re: True Raja Puri
Also in the UK, there are reports of Rajapuri beeing hyped up.
The orinoco may be more cold hardy, but seems to hate cool summer weather. Maybe the rajapuri is slightly better in that department?

Re: True Raja Puri
the reason this is posted as True Raja Puri, is the origin of the plant..
some folks get things in trade that have no clue what they are.. they give it a name based on leaves or what peeps say .. in some situations the big growers mislabel tc plants and are sold.. being in cold climate i needed to know what i had, due to limited space in greenhouse.. i'm clueless on diff raja varieties, i only know of one.. if i had to guess which is more cold hardy, would be d.o.. due to the fact that fruit is whole lot less sweet than raja.. differences in taste is like night & day.. **not comfortable shipping to russia.. if it was a large corm i would have no problem with it..

It's been a terrible year for growing heat loving bananas, palms, ect, but it has been the best year for me yet for sprouting musa seeds outdoors, especially sikkimensis hybrids. Drops from low 80'sF in the day to mid 50's on most nights. |
