Banana Seed Germination Forum As one of the toughest seeds in the plant kingdom to figure out the keys to germination success with, this is a forum with banana seed germination tips. Please entitle posts like "Musa balbisiana," or "Musa cheesmani," etc. People would then post a reply under that heading, sharing their germination successes (and failures), what materials and methods they used, germination percentage, etc. |

Ensete Ventricosum Seeds
Does anyone know how long the bananas need to be on the Ensete before the seeds can be harvested?

Re: Ensete Ventricosum Seeds
Allow unblemished fruit to ripen; clean and dry seeds
Unblemished fruit must be significantly overripe before harvesting seed; clean and dry seeds Seed does not store well; sow as soon as possible This is my first year with Ensete...the pups I had last year didn't overwinter, so I bought more mature plants. I copied and pasted that information. |

Re: Ensete Ventricosum Seeds
Thanks for the reply. I guess by overripe they mean it changes color? The bananas have been on the plant for about 5 or so months, still green and firm.
