Germinating without heat mat
As the title states - I don't have heat mat, and I am trying to germinate Musa velutina without heat mat. Is there a way to do that?
Plus : Temperature is about 30 degrees Celsius(86 degrees Fahrenheit), and it is going to drop to 22 degrees Celsius(72 degrees Fahrenheit) next week.

Re: Germinating without heat mat
I germinated almost all my seeds that were tough on my water heater in a sealed container w/ media so the seeds stayed moist.. Now Ensete I had to trim the casings to get them to germinate.. :^)

Re: Germinating without heat mat
Yes, all you need is a south facing window. Or as you live in South Korea you can probably germinate them outside.

I'm fond of using the satellite receiver / cable TV box; it was good enough to incubate not only seeds, but it managed to hatch dove eggs, before that turtle eggs. Check around your house & see what all is throwing off a lot of extra heat, just in case the window sill cools off during winter or your water heater is inaccessible.

Re: Germinating without heat mat
nice idea, but in fact, I found that refrigerator is warm enough(not inside, but outside) and I am planning to attach them to refrigerator.

Re: Germinating without heat mat
I am going to put seeds and try to germinate velutina seedlings in these tiny cases. I think this much of space would be enough, but if not, please reply. Also, is it okay to put seeds in sealed case?

Re: Germinating without heat mat
You mean that it is okay to put seeds in a sealed case? if then, here I go!
Also, it would be nice if I can give those seeds some vermiculite - but I don't have them! LOL
