Banana Seed Germination Forum As one of the toughest seeds in the plant kingdom to figure out the keys to germination success with, this is a forum with banana seed germination tips. Please entitle posts like "Musa balbisiana," or "Musa cheesmani," etc. People would then post a reply under that heading, sharing their germination successes (and failures), what materials and methods they used, germination percentage, etc. |

![]() I grew them in peat substrate to the heat sink. Afternoon temperature was 29 C, and at night I slightly opened the balcony door and the temperature dropped to 20 degrees.

![]() Thankyou beng my seeds arrived yay ive soaked them in warm water at a constant 30c over night and have now planted 4 pots full with clear plastic lids and placed them in 4 places. I put one out in a good sunny spot in the garden. one on my heated fishtank lid one in a sunny window and one in the airing cupbord. I thought trying a few difrent places will give me 4 chances of geting some to sprout. the heated fishtank lid gets turned of at night so the temp will drop a bit same as temp drops in the garden and window ledge at night so will give a good day night feel. The airing cupbord sits at a constant 30c so will see what happens when and were..
I will let you know as and when. But again thankyou for the seeds Im most greatfull!! ![]() ![]() ![]() regards Steve ![]() Last edited by stevieboy1 : 04-30-2013 at 06:31 PM. |

It seems that the wild bananas of Singapore might have genetic introgression from cultivated bananas. What is your experience with variation in wild acuminata bananas there? Are you seeing evidence of variation in grown-out seedlings collected from the wild; and wild clumps that might indicate this? Thanks, shannon shannon.di.corse@gmail.com |
