Banana Seed Germination Forum As one of the toughest seeds in the plant kingdom to figure out the keys to germination success with, this is a forum with banana seed germination tips. Please entitle posts like "Musa balbisiana," or "Musa cheesmani," etc. People would then post a reply under that heading, sharing their germination successes (and failures), what materials and methods they used, germination percentage, etc. |

Nannermommy - the baby
Here it is, my first baby banana
Sprouted after exactly one month, on the 6th of may. It's very fragile, I hope it will survive. I keep it inside my home in a little unheated greenhouse on- or near the central heating and next to the window. Do I have to keep it away from direct sunlight (will it burn from sun?), the air is moist so there are little drops of water on the baby. Last edited by marenmar : 05-16-2009 at 10:10 AM. |

Re: Nannermommy - the baby

Re: Nannermommy - the baby
Mar, be a little careful on the humidity for a sprout of this size. I find that without constant humidity, they do not fare well. I normally keep the seedlings/germination box within a clear plastic bag till they get the 2nd leaf out before potting it. Success rate is very high from this point. Check out the older threads from the Seed Germination Forum. You check out some of the discussions from this thread;

Very exciting. Anytime you can get one to sprout is cause enough for celebration.
