Banana Seed Germination Forum As one of the toughest seeds in the plant kingdom to figure out the keys to germination success with, this is a forum with banana seed germination tips. Please entitle posts like "Musa balbisiana," or "Musa cheesmani," etc. People would then post a reply under that heading, sharing their germination successes (and failures), what materials and methods they used, germination percentage, etc. |

Successful Germination
1 out of 17 Musa velutina has sprouted after 25 days. This was my first attempt at germinating musa seeds. For a heat source, I placed the container they were on a top of a fishtank.

Re: Successful Germination
Good deal! Never give up on the others though. I've had them to germinate after a few years in the ground.

Re: Successful Germination
Another one has sprouted. The first one to sprout has unfurled its first leaf.

Re: Successful Germination
H1, Good luck with your sprouts. It' day eleven since I planted my Abyssimian(Ensete)
seed. They have been scarified, soaked, and on a heat matt. I planted all 20, didn't want to take chances. I guess I'm losing it. I just ordered Ensete Glaucum seed and another heat matt. Don't know what I'll do if they actually germinate. Still going bananas in NJ. Raggedy |
