Re: Ty Ty nursery?
At the very lease I believed they would have a lot different plants and trees to look at. It appeared that a lot of people took them seriously by looking at all the complaints. Without the complaints I am sure a lot more would have to. They are some how still in business so there are a lot more taking them seriously. Behavior not marketing makes you a joke to me. I like the site it was interesting to look at and different fake but interesting.

Re: Ty Ty nursery?
I hear they are still looking for models ... Wanted: Models for Ty Ty Nursery
"Still in business" does not equate to "a lot more taking them seriously". For example, if the land is a family inheritance and they have rental income, then they don't need much in the way of customers. Instead, the nursery would make a good tax write-off.

Re: Ty Ty nursery?
Wow. That's some creative marketing. I know that "sex sells" but I would have never thought to combine sex with nursery stock. Of course, if I had a body like that I'd walk around half naked most of the time too!

Re: Ty Ty nursery?
People that some people think are beautiful had been used to sell any and everything forever turn on the TV. I dont care about that. To me it shows people feeling good and enjoying their plants fake or not that is what I got. For me this is what growing plants is about. I love nanas because the fast growing habits and the challenge. It along with me going to the gym relieves my work related stress and make me fell good. As far as porn I know porn LOL. Ok maybe not funny on this site. I dont see porn when I see these pictures. Is it because these people on the site are fit? You are in Miami I am sure u see people in swim suits and with there shirts off all the time. I see it here in Georgia all the time people that work on their body likes to show them off but like you said to each his own. I have not visited their site after visiting their nursery about two years ago. All the people that they have scammed should land their butts in jail.

Mike, I didn't mean to offend you. Coast crab's post just echoed exactly what I was thinking after I read your post...so I couldn't resist! You are correct about Miami.. There's probably more half naked women and men walking around here than anywhere in the U.S.! However, there are absolutely no nurseries in Miami that use sex to promote their product(and there are HUNDREDS of nurseries). The two things are so unrelated it's comical! It's like going to the produce section of the grocery store... and there you see a cardboard cuttout of Carmen Elektra, on her knees and in a thong bikini, seductively eating a banana. If that's the case, buying bananas would be the last thing on my mind! LOL |

Re: Ty Ty nursery?
I was recently at a produce show and the people from Wholly Guacomole had 2 dallas cowboys cheerleaders at their booth, some other produce company had some hooter's girls signing calendars. One of the mexican fruit producers had some incredibly hot women out in front of their booth. The produce companies hire models for the weekend to stand out in front of their booths to attract traffic.

Re: Ty Ty nursery?
Scantily clad is one thing, but the part that is more disturbing to me are the phallic references- when they show any "elongated" fruit, tree, or bamboo shoot. Most public marketing doesn't try to invoke the male member as often as they do.

Re: Ty Ty nursery?
Dr. Phil doesn't cut it for them I do believe. Jeez why didn't they just go hire long-dong silver... or what-ever those porn people are called these days... Maybe they'd hire my chickens scroggin'? they might do anything to sell plants even if they suck....
All I know is I don't go out into my yard to get turned-on its to relax, and I think they completely missed the point.. |

Re: Ty Ty nursery?

Oh! And if we are going into this issue, time and again I've not said that I'm a big supporter of them. But if you think that expressing my reporting of the reasonable service I've experienced with them is being a strong supporter, so be it. Though at times, I can get defensive after being put down for expressing this good fortune with them. I do not advocate that anyone go and rush to them. While I can understand the hesitation from many here because of the bad press on them, I don't think there's a need to be crucified for reporting my good experiences with them. I don't think anyone was on my side with my bad experiences with Going Bananas. Matter of fact, some of the comments made me feel that I was more the perpetrator than the victim. I have been doing mail order business since the late 60s, and have been receiving good service from "plagues", the likes of Michigan Bulb Co., Mellinger, The Banana Tree, and yes, Ty Ty Nursery, where with the advent of the internet, you can find a lot bad press on these. Yet, just because some of the more prominent mail order businesses like Stokes, Glasshouse Nursery, Alan's Tropicals, and yes again, Going Bananas!, who might carry more attractive and even rare plants, some people tend to befriend them in the hopes of getting in their favor. Naturally, most do get in their favor. However, there can be a tendency on those business' part to be arrogant, and ignore non-vocal patrons. I have had bad experiences with these latter businesses, and the only thing I can do is stop doing business with them. But they live on with a hero's image because of their valuable inventory. Sure, they probably please more people than they piss off. But I don't make fun of the people that had good experiences with them. Even now, I'm starting to get some unpleasnt experiences with Logee's, with whom I've been doing business since the late 60s. So now, it may be time for me to move away again. Re: Ty Ty nursery?
I love the tyty's video! I love it when they pour water on the leaf, what's that about???? I would have cut the sunburned parts off the leaves with scissors before videotaping though. It's so cheezy its like banana porn.....lol...like them or not, you've got to admit, it gets people talking about them...so I guess it works on some level...maybe I should strip down my 13 year old to a bikini and take some pictures...it would definitely work better than one with me in one...lol...
