I have not been very active here for a while, I have been fighting to keep myself alive for the last 8 years with an undiagnosed illness. Well I am doing a lot better but now my yard is being devastated by Fusarium. My bananas have all the normal symptoms and I am currently ripping them out. I have other plants that are not doing well but that may be due to 120 degree heat. I have a few questions for anyone that has dealt with this.
First one is which variety should I put there after the soil sits for a few months? I am looking at Goldfinger, Raja Puri, maybe a Cavendish. Some sources claim Mysore is panama resistant and some say it is not.
Next one is how easily will it spread while I chop them down. I kind of think the whole yard is probably infected.
I am not upset with the idea of killing all my container plants because it is likely they have been infected by compost made with banana waste. I am planning on moving soon and am starting to think I should not take any plants with. I have many figs and guavas in containers that I was planning to bring to my next home.
My next problem is sterilizing over 500 gallons of container soil, I have done solar heating under plastic in containers and can easily get the soil to 150 degrees and higher.
I may have more questions later but will start out with these.
Thanks for any help and if anyone is interested in some of what I learned while running from doctor to doctor pm me. Most doctors are now just drug dealers, healing you is not in the program anymore. Its all about managing symptoms with drugs.

Don't get me started on doctors and drug companies... Sorry to hear of it all, though.
I am surprised you would have a fusarium wilt issue in such a dry area, as it is a fungus.
It seems you would need to try to keep any fungus alive there. Also sorry to hear of your fungal issues.

What it seems I actually have: Brazilian, Cavendish, Namwah, Dwarf Red, Gros Michel, Pisang Ceylon, Veinte Cohol and SH 3640, and American Goldfinger. FHIA 1, Paggi and FHIA 17... Always room for one more.

I suspect the fusarium may have come from some seed topper that was used all over my yard last October. It was such nice soil I piled some on my mats also. The Bermuda grass was really struggling until the smoking hot 119F weather the last couple of weeks, now its looking much better and I wonder if the heat beat back the fungus. My figs are not ripening very well, very few are worth eating.
I never really pinpointed an illness. I was having some adrenal problems and treated that with Glandulars around the time I was feeling a little better and the Glandulars helped tremendously. I then started eating even better than I already was. When I started taking a high end probiotic I no longer felt like I was slowly dying. I lost over 60lbs without trying. Idiot doctor said blood work looks fine but I kept losing weight while eating all day long. Learn about gut health, the endocrine system and dental issues especially root canal dangers, they are where good health is found or lost.

I just had a root canal and get my cap tomorrow, actually. I have heard of unstopped infections causing all manner of trouble.

I kinda figured your illness reply would be in a PM, but it's all good... Doctors can mess you up if you're not a diligent patient, asking questions and doing your own research and all, and still can even if you are all that. Sometimes they get lucky and find something they know a little about and fix it, too. Usually not cure because there's no money in cures. If they find a cure, the govt. makes them give it away at cost and then there's no more need, but treatments make drug companies and doctors rich with never ending appointments and prescriptions.
They sure are good at fixing people up after an accident, war has given them plenty of practice, unfortunately.

I don't mind being open about my health, I like to help others whenever I can. I hope no one ever has to go years wondering what is wrong but I would not change a thing. It was a life changing experience and I am a better person because of it.

That's why we all need to collect and plant whatever useful things we can. I am currently starting my soil building process on freshly ripped rock. It may be some years before we get anywhere.... But it will be well worth it.

Good thing bananas will grow just about anywhere.


I would try spraying your yard with IMO s or a home made compost tea to boost beneficial fungus and microbes. I realized I may have brought in nematodes to my new plot, so I may have to do this as well up there.
