Mole cricket founded Ensete very delicious
This is the mole cricket, few of them eat 70-80% of my Ensete M. plant's corm in the yard. The rest 2 Maurelii in pots are OK. I will organize massive contra-strike next weeks!

Ivo, that looks like a white grub to me. Here is a sight to look at if interested. We have many of them here and they do a good amount of damage.
White Grub Control You can probably get some information locally to help with your problem. Good luck. Last edited by oakshadows : 09-12-2011 at 12:16 PM. |

Re: Mole cricket founded Ensete very delicious
Thanks a lot, just thought that's a larva form of that insect(mole) - when my grandparents were alive 20 years ago they had kitchen garden in the yard where I grow My bananas and palms now and i remember moles were big trouble there.
Thanks a lot for the link, Noah, we have still Dursban in the stores, if not, i'll ask for the trademarks, containing that active substances, regards. But its some good news - I thought Ensete dont likes my sandy soil and dry and hot conditions this summer, but "fortunately" the rabbit was not in this bush : ))) |

Re: Mole cricket founded Ensete very delicious
Ivo, would like to add that these grubs like materials that are decomposing. I put in a lot of potatoe seedelings and mulched with some materials that were not composted completely and we lost the entire crop. I will be more careful next season. If your mulch contains a lot of woody material it may be the reason the grubs are visiting your plants. Good luck.

Re: Mole cricket founded Ensete very delicious
Wow, that stinks. I hope I don't get similar problems here in California with potato bugs...

Re: Mole cricket founded Ensete very delicious
If these grubs are in your area then they will attack anything that is a woody product in the ground, cellouse, and they are quite fast. We are trying to rid them organically and hope this works. Will post results.
