K. So I got a banana plant from a dude and dunno what kind it is. But i kept it alive all winter and didnt water it or feed it. And before I put it outside it got thinner than it was.
The one rolled up leaf that survived unfurled and it looks really green and healthy. But I really needa know why the stem got thinner. This is the 1st banana plant I ever kept alive all winter.

Is the thinner stem normal?
Its still potted up in the shade so should I put it in the ground now or wait for it to get healthier?

Mine do it also when I overwinter.....They will plump back once the grow season gets rolling and your plant pushes new leaves.

Maybe give the plant one more leaf then put it in the ground.


Do keep your eye out for the stem to choke a leaf, it happens to me under the same circumstances.

This is a photo of a plant that had a leaf stuck in the stem, I peeled back the dehydrated stems to free up the new leaf.

I was freaking because I thought it may have a disease. If a new leaf wont come out I totally will peel the dried up stem back.
