Default Is this a sign of rot??

I just brought my bananas in last week (zone 6) and have them growing under a metal halide system. The temp. is around 70-75 during day and in the low 60s at night. I check the soil temp and it was around 70-75 degrees. A few of my bananas have developed some brown spots on the p-stems. The soil mix is 30% perlite, 40% compost, and 30% peat. I only watered them once since i brought them in. Does this look like a sign of rot? I would hate to loose these bananas as they done very well this year. I will try to get some more pics up soon.

Thanks,
Dan

Yeah, looks like rot to me. Brown and squish=rot...not sure how best to deal with it, though.

Cut it off with a razor, cut through the layers until green.

I brought in bananas from the garden in early november. They sat in the garage with low light for about 2 weeks and were sprayed with insecticide. When I brought them into the basement (65 degrees with grow lights) I lost almost all of them to brown rot that looks like what's shown in your photo. I'm not sure if it was because I should have brought them in earlier in fall, or if the insecticde hurt them or if it was the 2 weeks of low light in the garage. I'll have to buy new plants next spring.
