![]() My dwarf cavendish just put out 2 flowers.. should I remove one?.. or should I leave it be?.. any idea what causes this??
The flowers also seem thinner than the one flower I had earlier this summer from the same mat. Thanks in advance! ![]() ![]() |

![]() Wow Mario - never seen that before - but it is fun! I would be inclined to leave it and see what it does. But who knows what the experts will say!!

![]() COOL! I'd leave it to see what it does! Is it possible that it's a double mahoi? I'm pretty sure that is a genetic mutation of a dwarf cavendish anyway....so yours might have mutated, maybe....or was just mislabeled.

![]() You might have a Double Mahoi, a derivative of the Dwarf Cavendish. Do not remove either flower. Let them develop naturally.

![]() It's definitely dwarf cavendish. I had over 100 bananas back in May of this year from the original plant I put in the ground(planted May, 2008). The bananas tasted just like those from the grocery store.

![]() Anyone know if there is a distinguishable difference between Double Mahoi and Dwarf Cavendish (other than the two racemes)? I kinda assumed since DM was a sport/mutation of DC that they looked virtually identical beyond the obvious flower difference.

![]() Here is the full description from Agri-Starts:
Musa 'Double' (Mahoi) ‘Double’ is a sport or mutation of the common ‘Dwarf Cavendish’, and grows similarly. This cultivar almost always produces two large heads of fruit and can occasionally produce a third. The sweet fruit is highly rated, and it can be very productive. This is a rare and unusual Musa. 'Double' will not grow double stalks until second year. Looks like Supermario's plant is consistent with the description. "The proof is in the pudding." |

![]() Not just two, maybe even more! Read the description again - it says that it can produce a third bunch! I've actually seen pictures of one with four bunches!
