Rockwool is not good at aeration. It is good for small stuff like seed sprouts and clone cuttings. A medium like lava rock with an NFT and DWC combination should work. One container for the corm and lava rock placed inside another container that holds 2" of water with a bubbler. Root rot is a sign of little to no oxygen. Remember only 8mg of air can be forced into 1 liter of water.

I think running the grow lights for 18 hours a day is too much you can save the lights and electricity by keeping the lights off during the day as sunlight will be available during that time.
