![]() Hey all!
This is my largest/oldest Banana and I need some advice. I realy want to get a flower, so I have been water/fertilizing like clockwork and they look great. My question is about all these pups/plants. Should I be removing/killing some? Just let them run? A - Is the original big mama, given to me by my mother-in-law. Unknown type. B,C,D - are the original pups, now decent plants on their own. E,F,G - have popped up in the last month or so. H - is just now peeking out in a very bad spot. What would YOU do? ![]() ![]() |

![]() I don't think I can go much bigger and still be able to move it inside for the winter. Should I thin it out then? Split & Move the others to new pots and just re-pot Big mama in the middle of the same barrel?

![]() I'd split the corm in 2 pieces with A, E, and F in one chunk, the rest of juvies in the other. Then you can still use that pot plus one more, and still move them inside!
And I agree, cover them roots up with some mulch and whatnot.

![]() I know moving pots is so much fun.. and whoppers in a pot is even worse.. I'd split it too.. Keep the biggest ones and only have 3 per pot after the split.. :^)

![]() Divide them and repot them......You have a small plantation in the works.
Get nice matching containers and put them around that pool for that tropical look. You could also put that big one in the corner to use. Nice maurelii you got there in the background. ![]() |

![]() Most of the discount hardware type stores have heavy duty dollies for moving furniture. You can tip even a REALLY big pot up, kick the dolly under the side and pull it up on top of the dolly. Then it's "roll yer naner" around.

![]() I guess I need to get on this sooner than later, as THREE more have popped up. Ugh.
I hope splitting this corm now wont have a detrimental affect on flowering. Last edited by Planethill : 07-09-2014 at 10:06 AM. |

![]() I would split them up for sure. I would keep A and E together and kill/transplant F elsewhere. I would split B C and D and put the tallest one in a pot and give the other 2 away. Nice looking plant.
