![]() On my first Super Dwarf Cavendish (that is 16" from dirt to top of the pseudostem trunk) I now have 5 sword pups growing in my 16 gallon container.
![]() And any suggestions of what can I do to increase my chances of a bloom? I would have reduced the size this pic I posted if I knew how. I have since added some dirt around the roots that are showing. Last edited by Pallen : 04-11-2014 at 11:26 PM. Reason: Added a Question and Picture |

![]() Nope. I recently transplanted it(Caven) from the 16 gallon to a 21 gallon pot. In the process I removed and potted three of the pups. I gave the best pup to my Mom and the two others are sitting under the mother plant. I still have 5 pups that are still attached to 'Caven'. Later this spring when the nights warm up I plan to plant some of the pups outside to start a mat. I will also take the Mother plant outside to get some sun to increase the chances of hopefully some fruit. This summer I will only be one year since I was given my SDC from my wife as a start itself, so I hope I am not being overly optimistic to get some nanners later on this summer.
See my blog for pictures. So much for a quick reply, you got me mono-logging about my kids. ![]() Last edited by Pallen : 04-11-2014 at 11:27 PM. Reason: spelling and sentence structure |

![]() Definitely do not transplant them off any time soon or they will likely not have enough roots to survive. Congrats on the pups, though.

![]() You can keep in a small pot to retard the size and keep it as an ornamental, but no bananas for you.

![]() Pallen your nanner seems to be planted very shallow. If ure gunna put it outside in the wind I would be careful. Maybe top dress/mulch with 1-2" of worm casting or compost, whatever u got room for.

![]() You are correct, since the above picture was taken I added more soil. And since then this SDC has been replanted in a 21 gallon wine container liner.

![]() I don't know why the plant split there, it was during an active growth phase. It took almost two weeks to totally stop weeping. Being new to nanners I let it go as plant growing pains.
