![]() You could probably expect a pretty healthy life expectancy out of a plant in a 22" pot... I've had some plants for years in much smaller pots... It is possible to get a flower from a potted Banana... I think that the location/length of growing season is a much more important factor...

![]() Quote:
Buy what you can afford and keep in mind the bigger the container is the heavier they get. All big box stores sell those larger buckets with rope handles which is a nice size for a plant to flower in and they are easy to handle. The buckets come in a variety of colors . Here is an example of container size to possibly flower your plant, however even larger containers are used quite often by forum members with great results. ![]() |

![]() I think all bananas in plastic pots are doomed to transplanting ...
I wrote a bit about pot size here: Banana Cultivation In Non-Tropical Climates

![]() You didn't state what kind of banana you have. I don't think a Mekong giant would work very well, but dwarf Cavendish or ice cream would.

![]() I have had a few Namwa flower in the pot. These are ones I have moved from the ground into pots because I didn't want to get rid of them. I use the buckets with the rope handles. After I put them into the buckets they flowered. Good Luck

![]() I feel like after keeping my banana's indoor during winter and bringing back out for summer the sun kind of shocks the tree turning the leaves brown . Is that true ? If it is is that a big deal or no ? Thanks

![]() It's normal, but you can lessen the shock by putting them out for a few hours a day as the temps warm up. By the time there is no more threat of frost, they should plant without any ill effects.

![]() Just for reference ... here's some volumes of tree "boxes".
24" (inner base 18"x18", inner top 24"x24", inner vertical height 24") : 45.8 gallons 28" : 75.6 gallons 32" : 108.6 gallons Shown in the foreground of the photo from left to right: a 24" tree box, some black 15 gallon nursery pots, and a black 25 gallon nursery pot.
