2 namwah's got after Chrimstas were about 6 inches and now are well over 23.. I also got 4 basjoos from Sandy here at NorthernTropicals (thx) they are doing great..Can't wait for the warm weather when they will be put outside..

Looking good! You must be doing something right! I'm sure they're ready to be be outside...but probably still too risky in your area.

Most of mine look good but haven't grown much - if at all this winter, esp ones in cool temp sunroom. We still have snow on ground but the heavy rain they're calling for should melt it all.
Nice pics - they look very healthy.

Hey timmko,

How do you know when to water your bananas? I'm in MN and I can't quite figure out how dry to let them get or how wet. I've killed a few both ways. Seems like the leaves turn brown no matter what I do, sometimes they even come out of the p-stem brown. I've always taken that to be an overwatering sign, since it seems to happen right after I water. I can't get leaves to stay green in the winter, and I even have a humidifier to keep it around 45% in the storage room, so I don't think it's dryness. They stay green just fine in the summer if I ignore it completely! What am I doing wrong? Can you enlighten me? Thanks!

Those plants pictured were first year plants. Right now they were about 9ft or more when I had to cut them down to fit inside. I am having the same problem right now with mine. The leaves are turning brown and the new ones were also coming out brown and have stopped altogether. I have a humidifier inside kept around 50%, temp at 72 and I used to water once a week but think that is the problem also. I bought a moisture meter online and according to that once every 3 weeks or more would be ok. So I am stumped also. My p-stems seem to be squishy in spots where the leaves were taken off. I stripped them down to a nice looking green but now they too are doing the same brown/squishy thing after about 3 weeks. If you find out anything please let me know. This too started about a month after being inside. I don't know if its because I had to cut them off?
