Superthrive is a combination of seaweed extract and other plant hormones. Be careful when applying it to potted or root-bound plants. Over-application can cause tremendous root development to the point that the plant dies from exhaustion. In those cases, you will see ordinary plants with roots the size of parsnips.

I've been thinking of a lawn care business. I used to work for a nursery man. He said, "what ever you do don't be a nurseryman." Because it was to much work and the big guys can just put you under.

The "big guys" can always put you under with cheap ornamentals. However, serious gardeners are particular about where they get their "edibles" and nutrients for them. You are a prime example. You could easily master the 1000 herbs, veggies, and fruits that perform in your area and become an expert in the nutrients for them as well. Skip the 14,000 varieties of ornamentals and leave them for the box stores.

Richard is correct. I've seen people spend $10-100 at the big box stores but when I go to the local nursery, people typically will spend several hundred dollars to buy quality plants. It also helps talking to people that know what they are talking about!

I buy all my annuals from the same place. They are much pricier than the big chains but the quality is so much better!

I bought Basjoos from the local nursery last year and they ended up growing to 8' with our short growing season. I also bought 3 weakling tissue cultures online coz they were so cheap. Needless to say, you get what you pay for. The TC ended up fine with some TLC but only got to 4'. I didn't trust them in the ground and overwintered them indoors.

I just bye a California gold yesterday, do you think I should bye the banana fuel for fertilizer? And organic soil for planting? Also can you tell me where to bye that banana fuel? This is my first banana tree and I really want to see bananas.

18" deep and mix 50 50 with existing soil. You can use Banana fuel but let the plant get established first. Can you show a photo of the plant ? How big is it ,was it potted when you got it ?

well I buy it yesterday on e-bay (California gold) he say about 1'1/2 high, but when I will plantthe tree do I need to add fertilizer or anything else ? also any specific soil they told me organic is better what do you think?

The plant will probably arrive with few roots. I would plant it in a pot for now,no fertilizer. Place the pot out of direct sunlight.After the plant has new growth then plant in the ground. As far as organic soil add compost .

You could, but it would be better if you had something with more Nitrogen, less Phosphorous, and more Potassium. Are you looking for something organic or does it matter to you?

Richard, is pretty good at fertilizer stuff. If I were you I would contact him. I'm sure he can help you either way.

The Hasta Grow is 6-12-6. It is a good choice for annual flowers. A better choice for your fruiting bananas would be 12-6-12 or 12-6-18.
