thanks blake.. i grew a bunch of gourds several yrs ago on a fence..
and im still enjoying using them as bird feeders/houses.. gave several away to nearby grade school for hobby/crafts projects.. there are some funky shapes some form.. |

If you buy some gourds to decorate with this fall, after you're through with them, put them at the bottom of a fence, like chain link or field fence. Put the gourds about 5 feet apart, then walk along the fence and stomp on them. They will come up on their own in the spring and You'll have a pretty decorated fence next year with happy surprize gourds. Some turn out just like the ones you put down, others are crossed and look totally different. Anyway it's easy! been doing it for years. And now that I sell gourds, it's an easy way to grow them without taking up any extra space that we could use for other crops.
