Whales in Mediterranean See.
Has anyone read this? Pretty weird. Poor souls. If they'd emerged closer to Spain, they might have survived, but Italy is way too far from the ocean.
Poor souls. I've read somewhere that 2 of the whales still survived and that they are being treated. For now their lives hang on balance... FOXNews.com - Experts Puzzled by Nine Beached Whales on Italy's Coast

Re: Whales in Mediterranean See.
Very sad... something like this happens almost every winter here when dolphins get stuck in one of the local coastal rivers. Coast guard cutter ships try and clear a path for them but they never seem to find their way back to sea.

Re: Whales in Mediterranean See.
Almost every summer we are visited by single or maybe even two whales in our part of Adriatic. They get lost following NATO ships to Adriatic gates but all are safely returned for now by coast guard ships.

Re: Whales in Mediterranean See.
I think alot of these beachings are influenced by low frequency sonar tests as well as pollution. I agree tho it's sad.
