Joy Musa ornata "Milky Way" the most difficult plant to look for.

Hi members,
I would like your help in looking for shops that sell plants of musa ornata Milky Way" and ship the plants internationally. etc to New Zealand., please.

Websites will be OK.

Musa ornata "Milky Way" are hybrid plants that do not produce the seeds in fruits.

For 8 past years I been looked for shops that is willing to ship plants of musa ornata "Milky Way" to other countries, internationally, but musa ornata "Milky way" turned to been the most difficult plant for me to find.

2 years ago I emailed Gina Anne the senior member of Bananas.org and asked her to send me the seeds of musa ornata "Milky Way", but she were not helpful and told me she is not interested in send me the seeds and said she won't ship seeds out of USA.
I were not impressed and told her to change her attitude for good of members of Bananas.org and to send me the seeds on September.
But she did not sent me the seeds, due to the musa ornata "Milky way" were seedless hybrid plants.

Last night I got a email from Joach Kotzur the keeper of Achim's Banana shop.
He said he do not ship the plants outside of Europe.
I got angry as he were not an understanding man as he did not know the musa ornata "Milky Way" are seedless hybrid plants and are very difficult plants to look for, and I spent fruitless 8 past years looking for these musa ornata "Milky Way.
I think Joach were not helpful toward members of Bananas.org that lives outside Europe and is not interested in shipping plants overseas., despite I told him I'll pay him money.

Last year I asked Novi (Novisyatria) to look for musa ornata "Milky Way"
and tissue culturing them for me.
He looked for musa ornata "Milky Way", but did not find them in his country.
He had not emailed me, seem he did not found the plants.

A business with its website Heliconia, Musa, Gingers and Plumeria wholesale * Heliconia Paradise no longer sell musa ornata "Milky Way" anymore.

Going Bananas had closed down for last time some years ago, I emailed the business which is in Florida, seaval times, but no replies.

I hope to import the plants of musa ornata "Milky Way" to my country New Zealand. I will pay the exporters.

PLEASE can you help me.

Cheers

Clinton.

I googled this site. Musa, Ornamental Plants and tropical flowers for sale and when you click order it asks for country, so maybe, just maybe they'll ship to New Zealand. I'd send an email asking if they do.

good luck

New Zealand and Australie have one of the most strict importation laws for biological material. Careful about the authorities! Make sure the paperwork is correct!

Jack,
Correct, Australia had strictest importation laws that all heliconia & musa species are not allowed to enter Australia., because of their banana plantations and the authorities worried about new banana diseases will wipe the banana plantations in Queenland.

New Zealand importation laws are not strict as in Australia, but had too overzealous authorities. Some musa species are allowed to enter New Zealand.
I imported some musa species as authorities told me the musa species & heliconia species are low risk plants, because New Zealand had zones 7-10, with a temperate climate. My banana plants stop growing during winter on May to September, because of cold temperature.
Banana growing areas in New Zealand are limited to zone 8-10 only and north of latitude 38 S. Thames (where I lives in) is in zone 10, with 10 frosts a year (used to had 15 frosts in early 2000s) and temperature can sometimes drop to -1oC below freezing point few nights during on July.
Hamilton is in zone 8, with 70 frosts a year.

Cheers

Clinton.
