Default thai banana, fresh

Not really a recipe, but I was wondering when to eat a fresh banana labeled 'thai'. It looks like a manzano (short, squat). Do you need to let it go to black, or what?

I have googled it but not really found what a thai naner is likely to be, and thus, tips on ripening, or if it is even just a cooking banana??

I had some Thai Bananas the other day from a Asian Supermarket. The ones I had appeared to be Nam Wah.

It should be totally yellow. Definitely not black.
