he trunk is about 4' in diameter and about 5' tall.

These are city park trees. I was reading about this Palm. It said ,does not like salt air. these trees are 200' from the bay waters.

Yes, its Jubaea. I dont belive they mind salty air becouse they grow in areas with salty air here too. Its slow grower, kind a palm U plant for your grandchildrens, lol.
Did I mention BEAUTYFULL?
Cold hardy too.

They are awesome. There are some hybrids of them also, like Jubaea x Butia and Jubaea x Syagrus.

They are beautiful and because of the slow growth,worth lots of $$. I did collect seed but there were three different sizes. I am not sure if only the large seed will germinate. Wonder if the'll mind if I bring a ladder and get some of the larger seed.

Thats definitely a jubaea and an old one at that (probably at least 40 years old give or take). I really doubt they dislike salty air since they naturally grow in marine climates where temps are relatively cool and an ocean breeze blows on shore. Definitely not lovers of heat or humidity but it can stand some heat and even some humidity. These are one of those palms that california can grow and florida cant!
