Hi
I want to germinate some costus speciosa and costus lacerus seeds. The description tells you need to soak it for 2 hours in hot water . won't this kill the embryo ? gr.

Re: costus species ?
I don't think it will hurt the seeds as long as the water is warm not scolding hot.

Also from holland...haha..The main thing with gingers growing from seeds is that the seeds need to be fresh....if they are fresh you will have in just two weeks a lot of costus plants when you put them somewhere warm. I have a lot of gingers.....i do grow a lot of them from seeds and i have never soaked them in water...if they are not fresh it can take a long time before you can see them appear. kind regards esther |
