Default Days to harvest - accurate ?

Has anyone kept records & compared to Sellers claims?
From one site:

Quote:
Approximate number of days from planting to market
maturity under optimum growing conditions
So from planting...from planting the seed ? Or the young plant ?
I started some seeds back in March in my sunroom - which gets cold at night
March 24th I moved the 1st seedlings to the greenhouse
I moved my 1st plants outside May 13th

I have several small cukes growing ~1" in size
I'm wondering how long until harvest
Tomato plants have not started to flower yet
Planted peas outside April 25th, germinated & growing by May 6th

I'm keeping better records this year to give me a better idea on planting timelines for next year

They will mature in that amount of time if they are grown in optimal conditions. For tomatoes and peppers, it is after they've transplanted. It's not very accurate because different people will plant their tomato or pepper plants out at different times, etc.

I can understand that line of thought from up there dave. Down here its kinda taken for granted they are just going to take off. For instance Jimmy has enough tomatoes for 10 people to eat already where as I only have collected about 6 so far that have turned. :^)

Yeah last year was a wash out, then we had the blight
Still managed to get some tomatoes, cukes & squash, zero peppers
Had over a dozen pumpkins
Its been 2 years since I had a bumper crop....so I'm overdue
This year is looking pretty good so far
But they are saying its been warmer earlier...which is good

With the greenhouse next year I want to plant some in the ground once its warm enough in the greenhouse to start growing
That I think means early March, & starting the seedlings inside in Feb

This is the 1st year I haven't bought any seedlings from any store
Everything from seed
Recorded when I planted seeds, approx germination times
I'm keeping records of when things start to flower
When I see the 1st "fruit" forming etc
Then days to harvest
That way I can work backwards for next year to figure out a date to start my seedlings
