I know this is a banana forum and I do post a lot on that but most people here also have the "bug" and have other tropicals. I ordered a key lime tree from this company Meyer Lemons, Meyer Lemon Tree: Everything you would ever want to know paid for it last week and have not heard anything from them since> I wanted to get it before the cold weather strikes and shipping is delayed until spring. I called their customer service line many times and had to leave a message. Is this place a hoax?? They said they were in Florida but when I call it comes up Georgia,,which brings a bad taste in my mouth "TY TY"!!. Anyone have any feedback? If I don't at least get a shipment confirmation in a day or so I will have to call my credit card company and file a dispute. Anyone know of a reputable place for a key lime tree fruiting size?? thanks

I think the first thing I would be cautious about is if a company takes your money right away. There should be NO funds taken until the shipping date. That is the way a reputable and respectable company does business.

I'd just ask for a refund in writing, and CC it to your Credit Card company. If you don't get a refund by 7 business days, then your CC co should promptly fund your account, no questions asked! This is another reason why I love to use PayPal, because they are really good about that too.

thanks for the links. I will give them a chance,,just seems that their communication is a big problem. I paid $114.00 for a 4-5yr old key lime yeah it's a lot but I wanted something that might fruit next year...kind of impatient....anyway I will email them tonight and see what happens. Otherwise I will try some of the other links....thanks again.....I just remember the nightmares with TY TY nursery and am very leery....

I also looked at the links and will be ordering some citrus fertilizer..thanks

Actually, the way my webstore is set up, it does take your money right away. But I'd be in contact to make sure it was ok, if it wouldn't ship until spring. Or I'd refund the money if it wasn't ok. Not trying to stick up for them, just telling you that sometimes these prefab webstores are set up that way. Hope you get your tree or your $$ back soon!

I received an email today and they said they only ship every 2 weeks and they are sorry that I was unable to contact them..I will update in another week on how things look...Looking at the link above the feedback about them seems to be positive..Good healthy plants,, but the customer service really seems to lack..Just as I am finding out.

Just an update...here is their email reply..


We are sorry you have not been able to contact our company. We will have a customer representative call you tomorrow if you wish. We have recently changed our shipping to every 2 weeks. Your shipment will go out monday the 25th and you wil receive a tracking number that evening so that you may go online to ups.com and track your shipment. You should receive your package no later than friday the 29th.


And I checked tonight (Monday the 25th) and no email confirmation or tracking..nothing to say it was shipped..So I sent them another email later this evening and did to my surprise received a relpy..

Your tree will def. go out tomorrow. You will receive a tracking # no later than 8pm tomorrow night. You should receive your tree Friday.

So once again I will have to update tomorrow...I am kind of unhappy with the customer service..It seems if you don't haggle with them Via email they forget about you. They don't answer phone calls on either their order line or their nursery help line. We shall see. If the plant is in good shape it will be worth the wait but any company should have better service than this... I will also post a picture of the plant when I get it.

Tree came today as they said. It looks to be in great shape!! As stated above customer service seems to lack but the quality seems to be really good..Picture is attached. Tree is about 5ft tall with good coloration of leaves and new growth.

Help!!! alas my tree has lost most of its leaves..The few remaining are shriveled up and dry. I wasn't too worried because I knew due to the planting stress it would lose some. But now almost all of the leaves are gone and a few tips of the branches are turning brown. IF anyone has any suggestions please help..Here is some background.

Got the tree about 4 weeks ago and planted it in a mixture of miracle grow and sand. It is in a 24" pot with some hardwood bark chips on the bottom for better drainage " I read somewhere to use coco shells but couldn't find any this time of year and I use the bark chips in my banana pots also". It is in a heated building at 72degrees under a 400 Watt 10,00k MH bulb with a t-5 unit (6 bulbs at 6500K grow bubls) The tree is within 3ft of all the bulbs and recently I just put the pot on 2" of hard styrofoam to get it off the ground and also added a large Seed heat mat under it. All the plants in the building are misted daily with a 5 gal pump sprayer just until wet and this also keeps the humidity in the shed around 60%. I have been watering once a week and making sure it is not getting too much (same as for my banana's) and everything else in the shed is doing great. Today I uprooted the tree added more sand (close to 30% now) and also added a "Citrus Fertilizer" to the soil. I also added a more bark chips to aid in drainage. I ordered a pH and moisture meter but it hasn't come yet. By the way the lights are on about 10hours a day and the tree also gets supplemental lighting from a south facing window. Also the plants are not getting "warm dry air" from the heater blowing on them it is blocked from hitting the plants directly. So any suggestions? I know most here are good with banana's but I have no problem with them as they are close to 9" indoors now and growing well.

Yeah but it does no good when they won't answer the phone or reply to emails. I sent them an email last week and all they said is they needed more information. I just wanted some help. I re-sent them all the above information and have heard nothing from them since. So as of right now I am out of luck.

I have two orange trees and this year they both did that after a hurricane. The wind had not really damaged the leaves but the salt spray must have. Anyway the tree produced new leaves in a week or two. Have you seen any signs of new leaves coming?

I am not really in a position to give advice on citrus, as my Meyer lemon looks a lot like yours, except the few remaining leaves aren't dry. But...

I planted 4 citrus this year. The two I planted in a mix of sand and potting soil look awful. The two I planted in cactus and palm soil (Supersoil) look great. Admittedly, I used fine playground sand, which I've since heard only bad things about -- despite the fact that you can find videos on the internet of using it extensively in planting citrus.

What did the roots look like when you uprooted it?

I doubt the misting has anything to do with it, but I'm sure it isn't necessary, given the massive commercial production of citrus in dry parts of California.
