Ginger Question
Here in Mexico, we grow many ornamental gingers...and the one with green and white leaves has roots that smell similar to grocery store ginger...how does one find out potential toxicity?

Re: Ginger Question
I don't know gingers too well, but I think the plant you are talking about is Alpinia zerumbet. I don't believe there are any toxic gingers, and this one is definitely not. It may not taste like the common edible ginger, but it won't hurt you. But you should be careful if you are taking street plants because you don't know what chemicals were used on them potentially. If you know that there have been no dangerous chemicals used, you can experiment with it, it will not hurt you.

Re: Ginger Question
That's the one, Gabe. II have an abundance in my gardens and have not been able to grow the common variety...so, I'll give it a try.
