Good find, and Aroid id needed!!!
A friend of mine gave me a "heads up" to HD getting in some new tropicals and they were half off. We had nothing like these back in the spring and early summer. Go figure as to why they ship these in this late, but I ain't complaining. They did get two of the names of plants right...
Alocasia 'Borneo Giant' Alocasia 'Hilo Bold' These are the two that they missed badly with the names, so I need anyone that can id them to help me out. This one looks like Alocasia 'Wentii', but it is labeled as Colocasia 'Black Magic'!!! Here is the REAL kicker. Labeled as Musa Raja Puri!!!! I feel sure this is another alocasia, but not sure exactly what. Anyone else's Raja look like this!?!?!?! Didn't think so. My friend told the lady at the register at HD that the labelling was bad off, and all her comment was that the vendor does all the labelling. This was not just the one pot, but all the pots with this type of alocasia was labelled that way. Doesn't really surprise me though... Can anyone help with identification? Response appreciated... Re: Good find, and Aroid id needed!!!
The friend that directed me to them, just told me about the Lauterbaachiana. To me the best thing about it is its mottled stems. Here is a link to Central Florida Farms pic of it...
CFF - Alocasia Lauterbachiana - Rare & Exotic Tropical Elephant Ear Plant for sale - Mail Order Shopping PayPal! Anyone help on the other one that was labelled 'Black Magic'. I have a small wentii, but I did not get home early enough to take it out to compare... Here is a link to the wentii: Alocasia wentii |
