Re: Just Want to Show How My Other plants are Doing
It is winter here in my garden. I thought everything is bleak with lots of fallen leaves and all but when I look at my trees this is what I saw.
Of course I've been harvesting them since last month even when they had leaves. I also look at my other plants and I discovered that not everything is bleak. Here are some pictures of my fruit trees. This is one fuji apple tree. I have been harvesting fruit of this tree since last month. The mama (rootstock) is a Chandler pomello and the scions are mellowgold and clemenule mandarins. The smaller fruits are the clemenules and chandles and mellowgolds are the bigger ones.

Re: Just Want to Show How My Other plants are Doing
I went to my backyard today since the rain stopped and the weather is so nice I was tempted to pull the covers of this Chandler pomelo. I am surprised that there were many clemenule mandarin fruits and pomello on it.

Re: Just Want to Show How My Other plants are Doing
Thank you Joan. If one did not noticed , one can see different fruit on the same tree. It is the result of grafting new variety to that tree. One thing that is not showing are quiete a few mandarins are grafted to the mother Chandler Pomello. I also have clementine mandarin, seedless kishu, Meyer lemon, gold nugget, and oro blanco grafted to it.

Re: Just Want to Show How My Other plants are Doing
I am still pushing forward with my citrus hobby here in Minnesota, its coming along slow but sure and there, in my estimation, is nothing more rewarding or tasty than a piece of fruit that one has grown, or a veggie too for that matter. I was able to harvest some limes last year and they were just the best, now I can't wait for my first banana's

I've been harvesting the fruit of my labor now for many years. I just let them and neglect them now that they are matured. But I am still vigilant looking for aphids and snails who are my two arc-enemies of my garden. I know what you mean harvesting your first banana Joan. I waited I think 3 years for that. and the only one- California Gold at best. I don't have any luck with the others. They would flower but the fruit is not good enough to keep. Maybe because of our weather here. Not enough heat in the summer and cold in the winter. But I am still trying. and here's my Washington navel that every time I visit my backyard I munch some of them. They are very sweet. But here's my satsuma mandarin that I transferred last year. It used to give nice size fruit, this year it's not so I cut all of them and hopefully next year it will give normal size fruit. and here's a calamondin tree that Joe Real gave me a few years back. and lastly here's my garden companion most of the time.

Re: Just Want to Show How My Other plants are Doing
When I uncovered the plastics off of my bananas I discovered that there are 2 bananas that had flowered during the winter. The ice cream and the Raja puri. This is without any leaves leaves turned brown during the winter. So what I got are p-stems with flowers without any leaves. I might still save them though.

Re: Just Want to Show How My Other plants are Doing
OK Ante. Here they are.
This is the Raja Puri I am talking about. Check how tall it is. and this is the ice cream. This is quite tall 5 times higher than the RJ. all of my decidious trees are starting to bloom. This one is a santa rosa plum with at least 10 different cultivars grafted to it. and this is my addition that finally the city fathers finally approved the plan. But I have to do many revising to my original plan. I am still working on it. Patty, are you there? And Ante, remember you told me to fire the electrician who did the electrical? After I did the revising and did the electrical wirings according to the code, the inspector could not find a single mistake and he signed the permit in no time. But I forgot to take pictures on the electrical though. The next inspection should be the final.

Re: Just Want to Show How My Other plants are Doing
Thanks Patty. After for so many years.......
I finally got it done. Had I known that it would be that easy......... It could have been finished over 10 years ago. Now I know how the city fathers behave and act and also I learned how to do the sketch the city fathers would approve. I thought they were there to bust you up. Before I was afraid the expense of hiring an architech or designer and also the costs of the permit. Now I know how to do it the easy way that would not bust your pocket. I listened to hearsays before.
